Spring 2011 Trends

25 Mar

So what are the new trends this season?  According to Harper’s Bazaarr they are

  • Eclectic Chic
  • Bold Color
  • Pajama Dressing
  • Minimal White
  • Seventies

Here are a few of my favorite looks

“Eclectic Chic”

A pink painterly grid is utterly ladylike at Oscar de la Renta.

A ladylike jewel-toned cocktail dress is toughened up with a rubber armband at Juan Carlos Obando.

“Bold Color”

Tommy Hilfiger’s preppy trench goes red-hot.

“Pajama Dressing”

Michael Kors presented a laid-back California dream — all casual and fluid.

Reed Krakoff rethought the kimono.

Ralph Lauren worked a white and cream palette with plenty of fringe and lace, evoking a tony vision of prairie life.

“Minimal White”

Calvin Klein’s whites, which Francisco Costa called anything but "white," came in an arresting parade of boxy suits and louche dresses.

There were no dark moments in Thakoon’s spring collection.

A shawl-collared jacket spruced up a flippy pleated skirt and tissue-thin shirt at Band of Outsiders.

Derek Lam promised minimalism served ’70s style, and he delivered, starting with a parade of spare, long, fluid denim coats, suits, trousers, and shirts.

Even when Marc Jacobs mined the vintage fields for his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection, there was something thoroughly of-the-moment about it.

Navy and neon made a timely pairing at Altuzarra.
